How do seed bombs work?
Seeds get blended into a bentonite clay and organic matter mix, pressed by hand, and cured. The clay shell protects the seeds from birds, wind, and washout. When enough rain hits, the clay breaks down, the seeds activate, and the organic matter feeds the seedlings while they establish. Your job is the throwing part.
When should I throw them?
Early spring is prime time in most regions, and fall works well for many species too. The honest answer is any time the ground isn’t frozen and rain is in the general forecast. The clay shell is patient. It waits for conditions, so you don’t have to time it perfectly.
Do I need to bury them or water them?
No burying. Ever. Burying a seed bomb defeats the entire design. Throw it where you want growth and leave it on the surface. If you’re in a dry stretch and impatient, a light watering helps things along, but rain does the job fine.
Will they grow anywhere?
Our species are chosen because they handle rough conditions most plants won’t. That said, seeds are living things and sometimes the environment just works against you. Every order includes an instruction sheet with details on our guarantee. There’s no wrong way to grow Bad Apples.

Is mint really that aggressive?
Yes. That’s the point. Mint spreads by underground runners and forms a root network that holds soil like nature’s rebar. If you want mint contained, don’t throw a mint bomb there. If you want a slope covered, welcome to the right website.
Are these safe for pets, kids, and pollinators?
The bombs are made from clay, organic matter, and seed. Nothing synthetic, no chemical coatings. Several of our products are specifically built to feed pollinators. As with any garden product, we’d rather your dog not eat one, mostly for the dog’s dignity.

Why do the products have such weird names?
Some people name their products after what’s in them. We name ours after how they make us feel. If a name rings a bell for you, then it was named for you.
