Who Is Mr Bad Apples?
A gardener with a grudge
Bad Apples started with a slope nobody could fix. Grass died on it. Contractors quoted small fortunes to look at it. The usual advice was the usual advice, which is to say it didn’t work.
So we went the other direction. Instead of babying delicate plants into hostile ground, we picked plants that treat hostile ground like a personal challenge. Mint that spreads like the plague. Clover that turns dead dirt into nitrogen. Wildflowers that feed pollinators while they colonize your problem area. Then we packed those seeds into hand pressed bentonite clay bombs you can throw from the safety of flat ground.
That’s the whole idea. You throw, rain activates, roots take hold. No digging, no tilling, no hazard pay.
Every bomb is made by hand in small batches in Boston. We source real seed in real quantities, blend it with clay and organic matter, press it, cure it, and pack it in matte black. It looks like it means business because it does.
The name comes from an old truth: one bad apple spoils the bunch. One well thrown seed bomb changes an entire hillside. Same principle, better outcome.
